Greenleaf Vase
Greenleaf Vase – Modern Handmade Ceramic Vase with Carved Leaf Design
The Greenleaf Vase began as a quiet idea in the studio, inspired by the first tender greens of early Vermont spring and the way new leaves unfurl along a stem. Instead of the speed of the wheel, this piece started slowly, building up from hand-rolled coils of clay, each one pressed and smoothed into place to create a gently curved form.
As the shape took hold, the surface became a canvas for the design. While the clay was still firm but workable, a flowing stem and leaf pattern was carved into the sides, following the natural curves of the vase so the motif feels like it’s growing organically around it. The carving added both texture and movement, echoing vines climbing toward the light.
A soft light green glaze was chosen to capture the feeling of young leaves and filtered spring sunlight. After careful testing to find the right shade and translucency, the glaze was applied to highlight the carved lines without overpowering them. In the kiln, the coils, carving, and glaze fused together, transforming all that handwork into a smooth, cohesive form.
It is meant to hold a bouquet, a few simple stems, or to stand alone as a small reminder of that gentle, hopeful moment in the season. It brings a calm, natural beauty to any space. It is crafted in Vermont and is a unique work of handmade pottery that bridges art and function.
This handmade ceramic vase stands approximately 7.5 inches tall and 4.75 inches wide, featuring a soft light green glaze that accentuates its clean, organic form.
