At MFCarter Pottery, all pieces are handmade and no two pieces leaving my studio are ever truly identical — that’s the thrill of it. Each one is handmade in my home studio in Essex Junction, Vermont, or in the group studio in Milton, Vermont. I draw endless inspiration from nature’s wild details: the sinuous curve of a twisting vine, the rugged texture of weathered bark, the fluid asymmetry of a river stone shaped by years of current. Sometimes I stay faithful to those organic forms; other times, I push them into bold abstraction, twisting and reimagining them into something wholly unexpected. This variety keeps the wheel spinning and my hands alive with possibility, turning every mug, bowl, and vase into a one‑of‑a‑kind conversation between earth, observation, and craft. Each piece is functional, durable, and artful — made to bring warmth into your home. Learn about the process in the MFCarter Pottery Blog. Should you like to buy, available pieces can be found in the Collections.

Perfect for housewarmings, weddings, and pottery lovers who want to choose their own piece.

Handmade pottery holds a unique charm that is hard to replicate. Each piece, shaped with care and precision, tells its own story—one of craftsmanship, artistry, and tradition. No two forms are ever exactly alike; subtle variations in texture, glaze, and shape become part of the character that only hand‑thrown work can offer. These pieces carry the imprint of the maker’s hands and the rhythm of the studio, reflecting both intention and the unpredictable beauty of the firing process. In a world of mass‑produced sameness, handmade pottery brings authenticity, warmth, and a sense of connection back into the home.
